I never chose to talk to strangers. Following traditional greeting, I only commenced with a conversation for a particular reason, such as asking the way or when paying a bill. These days at the end of 2016 were different. Challenging myself, I walked around my neighbourhood with a cake in the hand, ringing at the doors, asking to share, being curious about those who are living so close to me but are still so far away, withdrawing behind walls and curtains. Thankfully, my courage to take the risk of being rejected was well rewarded. By encountering all these loveable persons, open to let a total stranger in their home, engaging in open-hearted conversations, these days became a discovery tour. Although not going for great distances, I could dive into very different worlds, perceiving my surroundings and these people from an entirely new perspective.
